Globally there is an on-going debate on which types of policies and programmes are most appropriate to improve human welfare and boost the economies of cities, regions and communities that are lagging behind. Often this debate is framed as a dichotomy between place-based policies on the one hand, and people-based policies on the other. This Webinar reports on the outcomes of the RSA’s Policy Expo into place-based policy in the 21st Century. The Expo set out to understand those elements that are seen to constitute good practice in place-based policy in the 21st Century by drawing on the published literature, as well as the perspectives of both the academic community and policy makers.
