In our world today, nearly one-third of all those without electricity (almost 500 million people) live in Sub-Saharan Africa, mostly in rural and peri-urban areas. Also, 90% of rural Africa still relies on traditional fuels for cooking and heating purposes, with women and children suffering the most from the negative impact associated with such conditions.
