Operational research is the science of improving systems and processes, often complex and dynamic, involving resources, people and information that underpin daily life. In this webinar entitled “operational research and health care in low and medium resource settings", Dr Geoff Royston, former head of strategic analysis and operational research in the Department of Health for England, presents the conceptual and practical definition of the term and the importance of OR in health care, particularly in taking a "systems thingking approach" to analysig and solving problems. He also discusses the contribution of OR in health in low and medium resource settings and the various ways through which OR can be developed in this context.
